SWATurners’ Executive Committee

President, Janice Levi (Brazos Valley Woodturners)

Although I am originally from a very small town in South Texas, I spent my adult years in Pasadena, Texas, first as a drama teacher, then as a counselor for at-risk and discipline students. I have always had an interest in woodworking and began turning wood 10-11 years ago. I have enjoyed membership in the Gulf Coast Woodturners Association, where I served as Board member, then President. When my husband and I retired and moved to Central Texas, I joined the Brazos Valley Woodturners and am a past President of that organization. I have demonstrated at SWAT and at various local Texas clubs. I look forward to serving SWAT and to having another outstanding symposium.

Vice President, George Kabacinski (Gulf Coast Woodturners Association)

Vice President-Elect, Paula Haymond (Gulf Coast Woodturners Association)

Secretary, Dena Fox (Brazos Vally Woodturners)

Treasurer, Walter Tate (East Texas Woodturners)

Past President, Delbert Dowdy (ArkLaTex Woodturners)

A native Texan, I grew up in Sweetwater. I completed an undergraduate degree at UT Arlington and a Masters of Physics degree at University of North Texas. After some work toward my doctorate in Physics, I took a teaching position at Texarkana College where I have been for over 30 years. Currently I am the Physical Sciences division chair and professor of physics. My wife, two boys, and I live in Wake Village, on the outskirts of Texarkana. I have been turning seriously about 10 years. A founding member of the ArkLaTex woodturners, I have been the newsletter editor for the past 7 years. I enjoy turning, demonstrating, and writing about turning. Along with four demos at SWAT, I have given demos at our club and other clubs.
